Advent in Perg: Tradition meets creativity in the city museum
Advent in Perg: Tradition meets creativity in the city museum
A special Advent exhibition opened on Friday, November 29, 2024 in the Home House of Perg. This will be open to visitors every Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. until January 5, 2025. In this context, 24 impulses and thoughts are presented to help visitors personally design the Advent season. A special highlight this year is a common Advent window that will take place on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, together with the parish of Perg.
The exhibition also has family -friendly offers, especially for children. The extended special exhibition "Hotzenplotz & Co - 35 years of children's stage Naarn" is shown on the first floor, which can also be seen until January 5, 2025. There, the children can not only admire theater props, but also become active themselves and dress up. This becomes a visit to a nostalgic experience for many parents who may remember their own theater visits.
club activities and new exhibitions
At the General Assembly of the Heimat- und Museumsverein Perg on November 15, 2024, chairman Franz Moser and his deputy Franz Pfeiffer reported on the diverse activities of the association last year. In addition to the special exhibition, which took place from May to October 2024 and an original document by Anton Bruckner as well as organ pipes from the Perger organ, there was also a brucker walk and an excursive trip to Vienna for the Bruckner Exhibition in the Series Hall of the Austrian National Library. All of this happened on the occasion of the Brucken year 2024.
Another point on the agenda was the presentation of the new exhibition "Fascination Perger Mühlsteine". The curator Rosina Pfeiffer presented this together with the Steinbrecherhaus association, whereby the financing was secured by a leader project. The new exhibits include guild chests and protocol books that shed light on the history of the millstones. These stones were essential in the past, but when they were no longer needed, the former Mühlsteinhauer began to use the Perger sandstone for the production of other products.
The exhibition and the entire efforts of the Heimathaus Stadtmuseum Perg have recently been confirmed with the Austrian Museum seal of approval, which is valid until the end of 2029. The seal of approval illustrates the quality of the work that is done in these cultural institutions and emphasizes the importance of regional art and history.
This upcoming advent exhibition will not only be a place of reflection and creative exchange, but also offer an opportunity to discover the cultural offers in the perg and the surrounding area. The facets of history and cultural life come alive here, and both young and old are cordially invited to visit this special event.
