Kirchdorf presents the supplementary budget: administration fights against chaos

The turbulent financial situation in the municipality of Kirchdorf continues to ensure conversation among the citizens. In a recently held meeting of the municipal council, the supplementary budget for 2024 was presented, a measure that has become necessary due to incorrect bookings and payments. Mayor Christoph Greißl from the Free Voting Community (FWG) announced that the community is working intensively to check the invoices and incoming payments in order to finally bring light into the darkness of finances.

It turned out that the problems came from 2023 when incorrectly posted bills complicated the situation. In order to master this chaotic situation, the community had requested external support from the consulting firm HJS-Consulting. This company had been commissioned to create an emergency budget to ensure the administration's ability to act. Greißl explained that at that time it was forced to take over the figures in 2022 and to increase an inflation compensation of ten percent. "That was the only way to stay on the ball," he added.

Details on the supplementary budget

In the new supplementary budget, an administrative budget of around 3.9 million euros is now provided, while the asset budget is around 3.7 million euros. What is striking is the significant increase in the administrative community surcharge, which increases by around 220,000 euros, from around 321,000 euros to around 542,000 euros. In addition, 146,800 euros must be planned for the deficit compensation of the kindergarten.

The municipal council adopted the supplementary budget with a majority of 7 to 3 votes. Some members of the committee expressed their concern about the need for a supplementary budget, in particular, since serious mistakes in the administration were identified as the main cause. This also raises questions about who is responsible for the predicament.

Despite the critical voices, the community remains essential to produce the financial order. With the supplementary budget, Kirchdorf not only wants to overcome the current challenges, but also develop a plan to avoid future misunderstandings and false bookings. The municipality is therefore faced with the task of restoring trust and making the administration transparent.

The developments in Kirchdorf are exemplary for the challenges that many smaller communities face when it comes to managing their finances. The case is followed carefully and could serve as the basis for future reforms. For more detailed information and a deeper analysis, we recommend the detailed report at www.ovb-online.de to look at.
