Break Dancer 5: The Bremen cult carousel celebrates its premiere

A special attraction is currently being celebrated at the Freimarkt in Bremen. The Break Dancer carousel, owned by the Dreher-Vespermann family from Bremen, attracts both locals and tourists. The carousel runs its rounds here until Sunday, November 3rd and is considered one of the most famous rides at fairs worldwide.

The Break Dancer, which premiered in Bremen in 1985, was developed by the Bremen company Huss. Since then, its popularity has spread not only here in the region but also internationally. There are currently around 50 mobile break dancer models on the road in Germany, which can be found at various folk festivals.

The story of the break dancer

The idea behind the Break Dancer originally came about in 1984 when the Huss company showed sketches for the project to real estate developers. Erika Dreher and Hans-Jürgen Zarnitz were the first operators to invest in the concept. Inspired by the break dance dance style that was emerging at the time, the carousel quickly gained a lot of attention, especially when the film “Breakdance Sensation” hit theaters.

Huss has further optimized the original concept from the ground up. The successors to the first Break Dancer were larger and more attractively designed. With the current model, the Break Dancer 5, the manufacturer is setting new standards in entertainment. According to the Huss company homepage, the latest model is based on faster and more powerful technology.

What makes Break Dancer 5 special?

The Break Dancer 5 is not only a feast for the eyes, but also a highlight for adrenaline junkies. Five by four gondolas are arranged on a rotating platform, offering passengers an exciting experience. The operating team has ensured that there are plenty of varied show rides and free ride options to suit all ages and thrill lovers.

Although the Break Dancer 5 is still waiting for its big appearance at numerous fairs, some showmen have already expressed their interest. A permanently installed version of the ride will soon be introduced in Vienna's Prater under the name Laserdance.
