Recently, numerous communities in Upper Austria are facing enormous financial challenges. Christian Denkmaier, the mayor of Neumarkt in the Mühlkreis (SPÖ), warned that the mandatory issues such as payments to the Social welfare association and increasing costs in childcare are strongly concerned with municipal households. The proportion of households that can no longer be balanced is now 75 percent in the Freistadt district. In order to react to this trend, eight municipal councils have written a resolution to the state government in order to initiate urgently necessary changes. According to Mayor Günter Lorenz von Rainbach in the Mühlkreis (ÖVP), the resources of the employees have been heavily burdened, which often leads to illness -related failures, as orf reported.
