Flood aid: New support for affected children and kindergartens

The latest flood events in large parts of the country have not only left damage, but also increased emotional pressure on many children. Such extraordinary situations are often difficult to process in particular for the little ones. For this reason, the family councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister has now launched a so-called "pedagogical tool case", which was specially designed for affected kindergarten teams.

This tool case is intended to help the educators to help the children to be coped with. "During the flood disaster, the elementary educators did astonishing things, even under the circumstances that many of them were personally affected," said Tesch -Hofmeister. An important component of the tool case is a podcast, which the expert in crisis intervention, university professor Dr. Barbara Juen, was created. In addition, special materials are available to educators that are made available on a digital “padlet”.

Individual support for kindergartens

In addition to the general materials, there are also individual support offers for the affected kindergartens. This includes telephone consultations or direct visits on site by educational consultants and kindergarten inspectors. These measures are essential to offer the affected institutions and their teams the necessary support in these challenging times. "The acute team and the Red Cross are at our side as important cooperation partners," added Teschl-Hofmeister.

The Initiative aims to strengthen the children's coping mechanisms and to support the educators in their important role. With the new "educational tool case", the state council hopes for better preparation and support when children are confronted with the consequences of such natural disasters. The provision of such resources is crucial to meet the emotional and psychological requirements that bring about such events.
