60 million euros for the future: Wiener Neustadt's 2025 budget presented

Wiener Neustadt is planning significant investments for the coming years, despite a planned deficit of almost 16.7 million euros in 2025. This was announced by City Councilor for Finance Christian Stocker together with the city government. The financial challenges arise mainly from the sharp increase in expenditure in the areas of health, social services and kindergarten education as well as from higher energy prices and rising wages.

Nevertheless, the city's total debt remains stable at around 111 million euros until the end of 2029, with only 27 million euros from older loans. These loans come from budget balancing measures, the last of which was taken out in 2014. Mayor Schneeberger expressed confidence in the city's ability to meet its financial obligations without incurring new debt.

Investment plan until 2029

Significant projects are planned in Wiener Neustadt over the next few years, which are expected to cost a total of 60 million euros. The most important projects include:

The financial planning will be discussed further in the next meetings of the Finance Committee and the City Senate. A first preliminary draft will be discussed on November 18, 2023, followed by a final decision at the budget council meeting on December 9, 2023.
