Art in everyday life: Super furniture revitalized St. Pölens Cathedral Square

An exciting new art project sees the light of the world in St. Pölten, which not only changes the perception of public space, but is also combined with sounds. Under the name s u p e r Mö b e l , an interesting symposium between art and function is developed, which transforms the cathedral square into an acoustic experience. The initiators of this project are the IMA (Institute for Media Archeology) and the furniture brand super table. The two hasten parties want to enrich the cityscape and the coexistence of the residents with digital sounds and design -oriented furniture.

The project will take place in the period from October 24, 2024 to December 19, 2024. The visiting are invited to stop by from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The opening, which takes place on October 24th at 5 p.m., is framed with a live sound performance by the artist Patricia Cadavid and her team Andina.

The central element of s u p e r Mö b e l forms a creative connection between furniture and sound art, with the works of Patricia Cadavit, Chris Janka, Ulla Rauter and Klaus Filip. These sound furniture enable visitors to immerse yourself in a new world of hearing and seeing that goes beyond the pure functionality of furniture. The urban space is also rethought here: the artistic design invites you to reflect and exchange that favors stimulating conversations and new perspectives.
