Labor market in the Scheibbs district: falling quota, but growing job offers

In the Scheibbs district, the expected unemployment rate will be estimated at 2.5 percent at the end of September. That sounds promising at first, because this includes the district one of the few regions in Lower Austria that remain under an unemployment rate of 3 percent. "The value is significantly below the level before the pandemic in September 2019," explains Peter Müllner, head of the labor market service (AMS) Scheibbs.

A closer look reveals that the economic situation is not without problems here too. Compared to the previous year, the number of unemployed increased by 9.5 percent, so that 463 people are now actively looking for a new job. This exceeds the Lower Austrian average of 7.8 percent. In addition, there are currently 206 people in training measures, which represents an increase of 21.2 percent compared to the previous year.

work and vacancies

The good news is not neglected: In the first three quarters of this year, the AMS was able to make a job. That is 130 more than at the same time in the previous year when only 1,660 people found a new job.

Another positive sign is the increase in available jobs. With currently 482 vacancies, the number is 28 higher than in September 2023. "That gives me a touch of optimism," adds Müller. The rising job offers could indicate a gradual recovery of the labor market and thus offer perspectives for people in the district.

Despite the challenges that the current economic situation brings, the Scheibbs district remains an employer with many opportunities. More about how these developments will work in the coming months remains to be seen, www.noen.at reports .
