New footpath and cycle path opened in Guntramsdorf – safety for everyone!
In Guntramsdorf, the new pedestrian and cycle path along the B17 state road was officially opened. The project, which began last year, includes a continuous connection between the Gemeindeteich parking lot in Wiener Neudorf and Ocean Street. The approximately 470 meter long path significantly improves safety for cyclists and pedestrians, as the B17 sees up to 24,000 vehicles per day in this area. State Councilor Christoph Luisser and other representatives of the communities celebrated the opening of the path, which is three meters wide and leads over a special protective strip to the roadway of the B17 APA OTS reported.
The construction work for this path was carried out by the company Ing. Streit over a period of around five months and cost a total of around 820,000 euros, with 60 percent being borne by the state of Lower Austria and 40 percent by the market town of Guntramsdorf. The new connections are part of a wider plan to create a greener transport network in the region, such as NÖN.at highlights. Another walking and cycle path project between Mödlingerstrasse and Klingerstrasse is already being planned and should also be funded.
