Wachau in real time: a festival of silent art and culture
Once again, the Wachau becomes a stage for creative minds, in the exciting cultural autumn. The Pöchlarner actress Ursula Strauss has set itself the task of bringing artists together in order to create a unique event in their kind. This year the festival is already experiencing its 13th edition and is all about a calm and contemplative autumn.
visitors have the opportunity to discover the Wachau far from the typical tourist flows. The festival promises to open a deeper, thoughtful world in which cultural highlights are presented on a small scale. Strauss is particularly happy to take over both the opening and the end of the festival on stage this year. "It fulfills me with joy how this event has developed over the years," she notes.
Various program with a touch of humor
The start is scheduled for Friday, October 25th. Strauss will stage the first show together with Matthias Bartolomey and Ariane Haering in Luberegg Castle. They use Alfred Polgar texts, which convince with a successful mix of humor and human contradictions.
The following day, October 26, the guests can expect another highlight: The Feinripp Ensemble presents "Shakespeare Reloaded" in the Melk carpentry. The director Susi Weber only needs one evening to bring the dramatic diversity of all pieces of Shakespeare, including ten comedies and ten tragedies.
The Melk carpentry will also be the scene for extraordinary achievements on Thursday, November 7th. Here the event "from the edge to the middle" is offered, which gives space for extraordinary texts by extraordinary people. Another special highlight awaits visitors on Friday, November 29th: Martina Zinner will take up songs by Hildegard Knef in the Melk Abbey. This performance aims to die out the topic of cancer and thus support an important social concern.
The crowning conclusion of the festival on Sunday, December 1st, again forms Ursula Strauss. Together with Christian Dolezal and Bernhard Moshammer, she will celebrate the "Advent in real time" at Lorenz Wachau. Under the title "Christmas and SO ...", poems by well -known authors such as Rainer Maria Rilke and Karl Valentin are on the program.
