Technological progress at the collegiate high school: E-screens for the upper school

KREMMINSTER. Digital technologies have become increasingly important in education in recent years, especially since the pandemic and the associated distance learning. The Kremsmünster Stiftsgymnasium has responded to these changes. During the summer holidays, the first upper school classes were equipped with modern e-screens to replace the traditional chalkboards, which have now reached the end of their lifespan.

This investment is part of the monastery's ongoing efforts to improve the high school's infrastructure. The old panels are not simply thrown away; They find a new use in cooperation with Caritas Osthilfe Eberstalzell and are made available to other schools.

Innovative advantages of e-screens

The new interactive touchscreens from Iiyama not only offer a generous screen diameter of 86 inches (217 centimeters) and a brilliant 4K resolution, but are also multifunctional. You can imagine these devices as large tablets that run on the Android operating system. They make it possible to take handwritten notes using battery-free pens or even your own finger.

A particularly practical feature is the ability to save the board pictures and send them directly via email or make them available to students via digital platforms. The screens allow you to install all necessary apps from the app store, such as GeoGebra or YouTube. It is also possible to connect to existing PCs, which conversely means that the PC can be controlled from the E-Screen.

The use of these e-screens significantly promotes the integration of digital media into the classroom. Students can present their presentations directly from their devices, while teachers can optimally integrate their own digital content. This makes the lessons more diverse and motivating. The first training courses have already taken place to support teachers, but these are only the beginning - further training courses will follow in order to maximize the use of the new technology.

Open House

On Friday, November 8th, interested parents and students will have the opportunity to get to know the new e-screens in person and see for themselves their versatile functions at the open day. The event takes place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and offers all visitors a direct insight into the modern teaching design at the Stiftsgymnasium Kremsmünster.
