The problems began on Friday, September 20, when the results of water samples pronounced a warning that the water had to be boiled off before drinking. Just a few days after this warning, those responsible began chlorinating the water. At first there was hope for a quick return to normal, but the situation lasted for several weeks. Despite the progress in the water from the lines, germs were still detected in the inflow of the fountain, which inevitably had to fall back on still mineral water or water from other communities.

The municipality of Hausleiten not only provides its own population, but also the surrounding areas such as Eggendorf and Starnwörth with drinking water. The tax offices of the ABC defense center in Stockerau were not a great help for many Hausleitner, since the drinking water in Stockerau was already flawless again on September 27th. The more than 3,000 affected people in households were on their own and had to find solutions.

To master the crisis, special drinking water tanks were sent from Korneuburg to Stockerau. Evelyn Krukenfellner, who is responsible for public relations in the Dabschkaserne, confirmed the support. While the municipality of Stockerau made a search for help to the military command, house slides remained idle in this regard. Mayor Neubauer admits that one had not expected such a long waiting period for the release of the water. The residents are relieved by the newly obtained drinking water quality, but the challenges of the past few weeks remain a formative experience for the community.
