Austria's tourism students impress with creative video spots

This year, the tourism students from all over Austria showed what they can really do - they entered the “#bestpraktikum” video competition with creative and inspiring clips. Walter Veit, the President of the Austrian Hotel Association, was enthusiastic about the high performance that the participants showed not only in their internship companies, but also in the videos they submitted. The quality and number of clips submitted increases every year, which is also reflected in the impressive click rates totaling 300,000.

But what makes this competition so special? Above all, the young people's enthusiasm for the hotel industry and the positive feedback they receive in their internship companies are remarkable. According to Veit, the videos can perfectly capture the emotional nature of the industry, which represents enormous advertising value for the entire industry.

Successes of the students from Retz

Filip Findejs from the Retz Tourism Schools was able to secure an excellent sixth place. His video, which was created during his internship at Le Phebus in the picturesque Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, convinced the jury, who used creativity and image factor as central criteria for the evaluation. He was awarded a JBL Flipbox for his achievement.

But the successes are not just limited to Retz. The Semmering tourism schools celebrated a special double victory: Marcell Tarnoki was rewarded with an iPhone 15 Pro for his fantastic video, which shows him during his internship at Café Wallner on Lake Wolfgangsee. For his charming video documenting his internship at the Alpenhaus Hotel Resort in Kaprun, Tobias Baierling received a voucher for two nights at the St. Martins Therme & Lodge, which is worth over 700 euros.

The students' positive experiences in the hotel industry are a sign of how important internships are in vocational training. They not only offer practical knowledge, but also the opportunity to share the joy of working in the catering and hotel industry. With the impressive videos, the students put their experiences on paper as stories and show how exciting and fulfilling the job can be.

The increasing number of participants and the high level of interaction with the videos submitted clearly show that the competition is not losing its relevance. By creatively engaging with their experiences, the students make a strong statement for the industry and its future. While the coming months bring new challenges and opportunities, the video competition remains a highlight in the tourism schools' calendar.
