Gmender Fasnet celebrates 50 years: anniversary and festivities are pending!
Friedensturnhalle Rehnenhof, 73525 Schwäbisch Gmünd, Deutschland - Schwäbisch Gmünd is known for the Gmender Fasnet, one of the largest carnival events in the region. The main events include the carnival parade, the International Guggenmusik Festival, the children's parade and the fool tree. Likewise, the town hall tower and the splendor meeting in the city garden are among the crowd pullers of the Gmender Fasnet.
The tradition of Gmünder Fasnacht goes far back, but has been affected by the Second World War and the post -war period over the years. In 1974 the first public carnival strikes took place after the war. In 1975 the first Gmünd carnival parade was held, in which the town hall was also stormed. The first female symbolic figure, "Gertrud the powerful", was chosen as Schultes. The Gmender Fasnet has continued to develop since then, supported by an umbrella organization that has changed into an independent club. The association currently has over 200 members, including many active players and supporters. The current president of the association is Eberhard Kucher.
