Memory of the November pogroms in 1938 in the former St. Pölten synagogue: Review of memorial projects 2024 and concert by Senka Brankovic and Helmut Mooshammer

The former synagogue in St. Pölten organizes a commemoration on November 9 in honor of the November pogroms from 1938. As part of the evening, a lecture on Jewish cemeteries and commemoration projects will be given in 2024. The concert "The Wise of Love and Death of Cornet Christoph Rilke" is then performed. The event is free, but it is requested to register by email.

In 2024, the death of the composer Viktor Ullmann marks the 80th time. Ullmann was deported to Theresienstadt in 1942 in 1942 and murdered in Auschwitz in October 1942. On this occasion, pianist Senka Brankovic and the actor Helmut Mooshammer Ullmann's Melodram "the way of love and death of the Cornet Christoph Rilke", which he still composed in Theresienstadt, have included in their repertoire. Ullmann was a student of Arnold Schönberg, whose 150th birthday is also the same this year.

Senka Brankovic, an internationally renowned concert pianist, studied in Salzburg and Vienna and teaches at the University of the Arts and at the Hanns Eisler University in Berlin. Helmut Mooshammer teaches Essen at Folkwang University of the Arts and at the Hamburg Theater Academy and is currently performing at the Deutsches Theater Berlin.

The season of the former St. Pölten synagogue ends on November 10th, together with the current exchange exhibition. On this day there is the possibility to take part in a last tour of the exhibition "Moving things. Objects and their Jewish stories".
