Leobersdorf shines: New photovoltaic carport opened for 30 cars!

In Leobersdorf in the Baden district, an innovative step towards sustainable mobility has been taken: The photovoltaic carport at the parking lot of the elementary school was successfully completed. The construction work, which started with the foundation and the wooden construction in October, was completed in November with the assembly of roof covering and PV modules. With a total area of 463 m², the carport offers space for 30 vehicles and produces around 110,000 kilowatt hours of environmentally friendly electricity every year, such as Meinzirk.at reported.

funding for photovoltaic roofing

Lower Austria rely on the energy transition and, from September 1, 2023, also promotes attached parking spaces for the installation of photovoltaic systems. This measure is intended to promote the use of solar energy on sealed areas and at the same time increase comfort for drivers by protecting against weather influences. The roofing of parking spaces offers several advantages: additional environmentally friendly electricity and a pleasant use of the parking space. The country promotes the installation of PV parking space roofs in 2023 and 2024 with a total of 8 million euros, whereby various public institutions, companies and associations can seek for funding, such as noe.gv.at highlighted.

These measures underline the country's ambitious climate and energy timetable, which aims to further expand the production of renewable electricity. The funding is awarded by a jury procedure, and extensive costs for the establishment of the systems are covered in order to reduce the environmentally relevant additional costs. This initiative shows that the regional structures move towards switching to sustainable energies and at the same time integrate modern amenities into everyday life.
