Intelligent parking guidance system in Amstetten: Finding a parking space is becoming easier

AMSTETTEN. A new progress shown in the search for parking space is just around the corner: the city center of Amstetten is given a modern, intelligent traffic and parking guidance system. The start of operation will be set for early December. This concept aims to simplify the time -consuming search for parking space and reduce the number of unnecessary journeys.

In the inner city area, there are around 1,550 parking spaces available that can be reached within three minutes. Despite this availability, an analysis shows that drivers often have difficulty finding free space, especially if they are not local. "The new traffic and parking guidance system makes the parking space search faster and easier. Unnecessary paths are minimized," says Vice Mayor Markus Brandstetter (ÖVP).

The newly installed sign concept comprises about 50 plates that replace existing traffic and directions. A central aspect of this system is early information: drivers are already informed on the city entrances and on the motorway exit about the availability of parking spaces. The system specifically leads them to the free parking spaces.

The inner city area is divided into two areas: north and south. Drivers who come from an easterly direction are led to parking spaces north of the main square, while all other transportation refer to the parking spaces south of the main square. The closer the drivers come to the city center and the free parking spaces, the more detailed information provided. Some boards are equipped with LED displays, which display the number of available parking spaces on the parking spaces that are available in real time.

The new system will also better identify Park & ​​Ride systems as well as cultural and leisure facilities, such as the Johann-Pölz-Halle and the city pool. For a smooth process, the previous garried parking spaces will be converted to a barrier -free system that uses the license plate recognition.
