Labor market in the Amstetten district: trends and challenges

The current labor market situation in the Amstetten district shows remarkable dynamics despite a weak economic situation and increasing unemployment. At the end of October 2023, 1,753 people were registered unemployed at the labor market service (AMS) Amstetten. This represents an increase of 20.9 percent compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, the number of unemployed remains almost identical to the time before Coronapandemie when 1,762 people were registered in the same month, as Harald Vetter, the head of the Amstetten, explained.

A positive signal sends the number of 3,864 job seekers who have already ended their unemployment this year through a job. In addition, a record number of over 32,000 placement proposals was issued by the AMS team, which is a third more than in the previous year.

Development in Waidhofen

The situation is similar in Waidhofen, although unemployment has increased by 1.1 percent compared to the same month in the previous year, reports Gerald Pöchhacker, the branch manager of the AMS Waidhofen. This year, 1,156 people have already been successfully placed in a job, which means an increase in 152 work recordings compared to the previous year.

The AMS Waidhofen recorded 1,191 vacancies that could be successfully filled. Pöchhacker emphasizes that the persistent workforce issue is used to offer each customer either a job offer or a further training option.

The competition prevailing on the labor market and the active mediation of workers are decisive factors that influence the well -being of the people in the region.
