Amstetten is planning one of the largest e-charging parks in Austria in 2025 with 40 fast-charging spaces on over 3,000 m². A step towards promoting e-mobility and climate neutrality!

Amstetten relies on e-mobility: Austria's largest charging park will be built in 2025
A remarkable project is being launched in Amstetten: an e-charging park that will be one of the largest in Austria. This charging park is planned for an impressive area of over 3,000 square meters on the Oiden, which can be reached via the Amstetten West motorway exit. From 2025 onwards, 40 loading spaces and later up to 50 will be created here, including spaces for transport vehicles. This initiative is being implemented by Stadtwerke Amstetten in collaboration with its subsidiary, “Ladewerke Amstetten GmbH”.
Another goal of this project is to provide a user-friendly infrastructure. The e-charging park will not only offer charging options, but also a lounge area with food, sanitary facilities, playgrounds for children and a dog run. These comprehensive facilities are intended to make the stay pleasant for users. “The location on the Oiden is not only important for regional e-mobilists, but is also easily accessible from the motorway,” explains Jürgen Hürner, Managing Director of Ladewerke Amstetten GmbH.
A big step towards climate neutrality
With a high connected load of 4.8 megawatts, this location will be a central element in regional e-mobility. “With ongoing operations, we are also monitoring whether measures are necessary for a possible expansion,” adds Hürner. The aim of this initiative is to promote the mobility transition in the region, which is also supported by Mayor Christian Haberhauer. The mayor emphasizes that the expansion of sustainable forms of mobility should not only contribute to climate neutrality by 2040, but also to establish Amstetten as a pioneer in the sustainable energy future.
The investment in this e-charging park amounts to 1.6 million euros. According to Sandra Kurzmann, project manager at Stadtwerke Amstetten, the financing of the investment is made possible by the rental income from the stations. This choice of location near the western highway also increases the attractiveness for charging point operators, including EVN, Ionity and Tesla.
The construction of the e-charging park represents an important step towards a better charging infrastructure for e-vehicles. This is particularly crucial since a well-developed charging infrastructure is considered a key factor in the decision for or against an e-vehicle. “Ladewerke Amstetten GmbH emerged from the innovative spirit of Stadtwerke Amstetten and represents a milestone in supporting the transition to climate-friendly mobility,” says authorized representative Harald Stressler. The project is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2025, and interest in it is steadily growing in the region.
