Liensberger is fighting a cold: Comack on the World Cup stage!

Katharina Liensberger, one of the best ski athletes in Austria, fights against a cold that now forces her to cancel the important world championship general rehearsal in the giant slalom on Kronplatz due to illness. On Monday, just 24 hours before the competition, the former slalom world champion announced that she is not ready due to a flu infection and had to cure at home. In her Instagram photo, she is unimpressed by the situation and thanks for the "great room service" while she is sick in bed, how vorarlberg.orf.at reported. 

Fight for the Slalom World Cup

Although Liensberger narrowly missed the podium at the slalom in Flachau and performed strongly as third-placed strong performances, she cannot take part in the Kronplatz-a bitter setback for the 27-year-old, had the best chances of her fourth World Cup victory. After the strong performance with third place, the question arises as to how the failure will affect the overall rating in the Slalom World Cup. Liensberger is currently third with 464 points, behind the Croatian Zrinka Ljutic (515 points) and the Swiss world champion Camille Rast (423 points). As an Austrian focus, Julia Scheib is now coming to the fore. The Styrian has already convinced at other events and is now one of the main actors on Kronplatz. The difficult conditions on the slopes, such as changing lighting conditions, are a challenge for all athletes. ÖSV head coach Roland Assinger puts high hopes for two quick runs from Scheib to tackle the medal ranks. "Trust in yourself and the material must fit," emphasized Assinger in the run -up to the race.
