Katharina Liensberger, one of Austria's best skiers, is fighting a cold that is now forcing her to cancel the important world championship dress rehearsal in giant slalom at Kronplatz due to illness. On Monday, just 24 hours before the competition, the former slalom world champion announced that she was not ready due to a flu-like infection and would have to recover at home. Battle for the Slalom World Cup

Although Liensberger narrowly missed the podium in the slalom in Flachau and showed strong performances in third place, she cannot take part in Kronplatz - a bitter setback for the 27-year-old, who had the best chance of her fourth World Cup victory. After the strong performance with third place, the question arises as to how the failure will affect the overall ranking in the Slalom World Cup. Liensberger is currently third with 464 points, behind Croatian Zrinka Ljutic (515 points) and Swiss world champion Camille Rast (423 points). Julia Scheib is now coming to the fore as an Austrian focus. The Styrian has already impressed at other events and is now one of the main players at Kronplatz. The difficult conditions on the slopes, such as changing lighting conditions, represent a challenge for all athletes.
