Kraft narrowly misses victory in Lahti – Tschofenig remains in the World Cup race!
Stefan Kraft was able to impress in the World Cup ski jumping in Lahti and landed in impressive second place with jumps of 127.5 and 126.5 meters. The 31-year-old from Salzburg only had to admit defeat to the Slovenian Anze Lanisek, who celebrated his first win of the season with 131.0 and 128.0 meters. Kraft's outstanding performance secured him his eighth podium finish of the season, as sport.orf.at reported. A special highlight for Kraft was that he was able to celebrate this time after a disappointing previous year in Lahti: “They were two very good jumps and I am very happy about them,” he said after the competition.
Position battles in the overall World Cup
In the overall World Cup, Daniel Tschofenig in particular took a big step with his seventh place, while his colleague Jan Hörl fell back to 15th place due to bad wind. Tschofenig now leads Hörl with 114 points. The Carinthian was satisfied after his competition, but also said that the performance of his second jump was stable. “I have figured out a few things again,” said Tschofenig, who is optimistic about the upcoming competition in Planica the press noted.
Manuel Fettner missed the podium, only 0.6 points behind, and ended up in fourth place, which disappointed him, but still made him happy with his performance: “I would have liked to have been on the podium this year,” explained the 39-year-old. Maximilian Ortner rounded out the Austrian result in eighth place, while Stephan Embacher collected World Cup points in 21st place. There is another exciting super team competition on the program in Lahti on Sunday, which will be broadcast live on ORF1 at 4:30 p.m.
