An unforgettable excursion: discovery of the Leonhardikirche in Bad St. Leonhard
A group of seniors from St. Andrä went on an exciting trip to the impressive Leonhardikirche in Bad St. Leonhard. The trip went north in a fully occupied bus from the PVÖ local group to visit one of the most important fortified and pilgrimage churches in Carinthia. The historic church attracts many visitors not only because of its size, but also because of its fascinating history.
When the group arrived at the church, they were greeted by Mr. Waich, a knowledgeable guide who explained many new insights about the impressive building to the participants. Among other things, the pensioners learned about the legendary chains that surround the church and are based on an interesting legend. The old windows from the 14th and 15th centuries were also mentioned as outstanding features that give the building a particular historical value. Details like these make a visit to the Leonhardi Church a unique experience.
Fun lunch
After the informative tour, we continued to the Klippitztörl, where the group had lunch at the Gasthof Buchbauer. The two musicians, “the two Hollodris”, delighted the guests after dinner with lively melodies and humorous jokes, which created a cheerful atmosphere. This part of the trip was also greatly appreciated and added to the group's sociable atmosphere.
The organization of the day was taken over by Frieda Oswald and chairman Wolfgang Hobel, who managed to put together a varied program. Such activities not only strengthen the community within the local group, but also offer participants the opportunity to discover new things and expand their horizons. The visit to the Leonhardi Church was a successful excursion that will be remembered fondly.
