Erwin Angerer: FPÖ criticizes SPÖ and ÖVP for a lack of responsibility
The dispute between the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) and the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) in Carinthia is currently causing heated debates. The FPÖ boss Erwin Angerer recently commented on the country's financial challenges and denied the assertion of FPÖ's sole responsibility in the past. According to his words, the SPÖ repeatedly supported budget applications between 2002 and 2012. Angerer particularly criticized the fact that the SPÖ literally peeled its responsibility. He explained that the SPÖ had decisively shaped the essential areas in the state budget such as social affairs and health for decades.
Angerer described SPÖ boss Peter Kaiser as “champion in deporting his own responsibility”. This means that Kaiser often blames others instead of reflecting on their own role. In his opinion, many future investments, such as the establishment of infrastructures, were made solely by the FPÖ, which would make a clear difference to the current red-black coalition. The FPÖ boss called various huge construction projects that were realized under his party, including the Lakeside Park and the Klagenfurt Clinic.
argument against the current government
The FPÖ also criticized that funds “in the structures” were lost under the current coalition. Angerer claimed that the administration was unnecessarily inflated by the SPÖ and ÖVP, which leads to an inefficient use of resources. The number of government members in particular was up for discussion; Angerer advocated reducing them, which Kaiser had rejected as harmful to the quality of the government work. Angerer countered that a reduced number of members could increase efficiency.
Not only the freedoms were critical. From Gerhard Köfer, the head of Team Carinthia, also contradicted Kaiser's statements. Köfer suggested that many competencies from SPÖ state councilor Schaar could be given to other ministers without having to suffer the quality of the work. Such a step could even mean significant savings for the country and help to solve internal problems within the SPÖ. These different perspectives illustrate the complexity of the political landscape in Carinthia.
