Water in Wieting drinkable again: redemption after 11 days of waiting!

In the small municipality of Wieting in the St. Veit on the Glan, Carinthia, the residents can finally breathe a sigh of relief: after eleven long days, drinking water is safe again. Mayor Gabriele Dörflinger announced that the water no longer raises health concerns and that the previous precautions can be canceled.

The problems began on November 8th when the community published a drinking water warning. The water in the districts of Wieting, Kitschdorf, Hechtlsiedlung and Mösel was contaminated with bacteria. This caused the water to be boiled for at least three minutes to drink. "The enjoyment of this water can lead to health risk such as breakdowns and gastrointestinal stimuli," warned the municipality on its website.

The water is safe again

The good news that many in the community eagerly awaited came finally: The water in all affected districts can now be enjoyed again. The Wieting volunteer fire brigade had also announced redemption via its social media and informed the residents that they can consume the water without hesitation.

The mayor emphasized the immediate release of the water: "The water in the Wieting community area is back and released." The situation has made it clear how important it is to monitor the quality of the water in order to avoid health risks for the population. Thanks to the rapid reaction of the authorities and the support of the fire brigade, the problem could be fixed quickly so that people can drink again.
