Serious traffic accident in St. Veit: Two injured after a frontal crash
A serious traffic accident occurred on November 22, 2024 at around 3:23 p.m. in the St. Veit an der Glan district. Two people were seriously injured and police have now released further details.
An 18-year-old man from the community of Eberstein was traveling on the Seeberg Straße B82 towards Launsdorf. For reasons that are still unclear, his car crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a car driven by a 67-year-old woman from the market town of Brückl. The impact was severe enough to throw the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, out of the vehicle, where he remained seriously injured on the road. After initial medical treatment, he was taken to the Klagenfurt Clinic.
Details about the injured driver and passenger
The 67-year-old driver also suffered serious injuries and was trapped in her vehicle. The fire department had to free her from the wreckage using rescue shears. She was then flown to Klagenfurt Hospital in the C11 rescue helicopter. The accident resulted in total damage to both vehicles.
The accident site had to be closed to all traffic until 6:33 p.m. in order to carry out the accident investigation as well as the rescue and recovery measures. Such incidents raise many questions and urge people to be careful on the roads. The poignant circumstances of this accident are also an important reminder of the importance of wearing a seat belt, especially for vehicle occupants.
