Warm sounds in Hermagor: The Festival of Voices” inspires!
On November 15, 2025, the moving “Festival of Voices” took place in the Hermagor town hall, organized by Wolfgang König from WMK Event & Marketing GmbH. The aim of the event was to offer the audience unforgettable experiences through the performance of outstanding Carinthian choirs and music groups. The mixture of the singers' powerful voices and instrumental highlights made for a festive evening that ended with applause and standing ovations in a packed hall.
The participants included several well-known ensembles. The Hermagor mixed choir, founded in 1861 and directed by Sonja Prugger, impressed with its tradition spanning over 150 years. The vocal soloists Carinthia, who have been active since 2002 and present a repertoire from the Renaissance to modern folklore, also thrilled the audience. The folk music group VolXBradler, which plays without technical support in order to promote folk music and culture, also received particular attention.
A successful evening for Carinthian folk culture
The evening's moderator was DDr. Christian Stromberger, who led through the program with his charming manner. The event was not only a musical highlight, but also a charitable event. How on volkskult.at reports, many concerts of this type are aimed at promoting Carinthian folk culture and supporting aid projects. The donations collected made it possible to directly support two aid associations, “Licht ins Dunkel” and “Kärntner in Not” from the Kleine Zeitung. This means that every euro donated goes directly to Carinthians in need.
The highlight of the event was the communal singing of the Carinthian song “Are you not with me”, which created a feeling of connection and belonging among those present. The guests also included local personalities such as Mayor DI Leopold Astner and the Alpine Club chairman Siegfried Lasser, who underlined the importance of such cultural events.
The “Festival of Voices” in Hermagor is not only an important event for the local community, but also helps to preserve traditions and keep Carinthian folk culture alive. Thanks to advances in networking and modern forms of delivery, such events are getting the attention they deserve while also providing a platform of support for those in need in the country.
In a conscious move away from excessive commercial events, the “Festival of Voices” exemplifies the values of community, honor and the unforgettable feeling of home, poured into music, song and dance.
