Grosz exposes Merkel: crashing billing on refugee policy!
Berlin, Deutschland - Gerald Grosz, an Austrian politician and entrepreneur, will publish a new book entitled "Merkel's work. Our demise" in August 2025. The content of the book is devoted to a settlement with the former Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), whereby Grosz particularly criticizes Merkel's refugee policy. This happens against the background of the crucial moment in the history of the refugee crisis when Merkel shaped the important sentence "We can do it" on August 31, 2015. In his book, which will include more than 300 pages, Grosz argues that these decisions have brought Germany into a precarious situation.
The book will be published by Graz Stocker Verlag and contains interviews with various personalities, including the FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl, the former president of the German Constitutional Protection Hans-Georg Maassen, Czech ex-President Václav Klaus and AfD boss Tino Chrupalla. Texts from Grosz will also contain the period from 2017 to 2025.
Merkel's refugee policy in focus
The refugee crisis, which was crucial for the creation of Merkel's framework, resulted from the massive influx of people from war -plagued countries such as Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. These people were looking for asylum in the European Union, with many came to Germany via the Mediterranean or land. On August 24, 2015, Merkel met with French President François Hollande in Berlin to discuss solutions for the European refugee crisis. During this time, Germany assumed the responsibility for the processing of asylum applications, in particular for Syrian refugees, and suspended the Dublin Convention, which stipulated that refugees in the first EU country must apply for asylum in which they arrive.
Merkel's decision to suspend the Dublin Protocol led to quickly spreading among refugees that Germany was open to the admission. These measures, which also emphasized the need for more initial reception facilities and the promotion of the integration of refugees, were accompanied by Merkel's statement "We can do it".
political consequences and social challenges
The Bundestag discussed the refugee crisis as one of the greatest challenges in post -war Germany. In government declarations, Merkel pointed out the urgent need to create fair distribution systems for refugees and emphasized that refugees had to respect German rules and values. The political debate about how Germany and Europe deal with the refugee crisis was and remains controversial. There were voices like that of the left-wing parliamentary group leader Dr. Sarah Wagenknecht, who sees Merkel's approach as ignoring against western shared responsibility for the conflicts. Wagenknecht warned of a division of society, while other parties, such as the Greens, demanded safe paths to Europe and warned of a foreclosure.
Grosz’s book and the underlying discussions about Merkel's policy illustrate the continuing tensions and challenges with which Germany is faced with. A permanent procedure for the fair distribution of asylum seekers and the integration of these people are topics that will also raise important social and political questions in the coming years. The extensive developments and the continued debate about these questions will certainly also have an impact on the political landscape of Europe.
