Voluntary fire brigade saves Jungfuchs from Schwechat!

On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the Baden-Stadt volunteer fire brigade was alerted to an animal rescue at 6:03 p.m. The site was at the Pergersteg in Schwechat, where a young fox was found in the Schwechat river bed. Residents had noticed the disoriented fox and informed the city police. This promptly agreed the fire brigade to act quickly and to help the frightened animal. At 6:04 p.m. the emergency services arrived at the scene.

The fox was unable to find a way out and had hidden in a wall. In order to carry out the rescue, the firefighters were equipped with mudflats and a small animal tag basket. With an animal -catcher, they managed to secure the shy young fox before it was carefully placed in the carrying basket.

The fire brigade carried out the salvage campaign with great care. The fox was pulled ashore with a rope and brought to the veterinary center Teesdorf after a successful rescue, where it could be medical care. The entire use lasted about an hour. The fire brigade thanked the Baden city police for the excellent cooperation and the important support during the mission. This makes it clear once again how important the cooperation between different places in animal welfare is.

commitment to animals in emergency

The incident also shows the need for organizations such as Terra Mater e.V., which takes care of injured, battered or exposed animals nationwide. Terra Mater operates a mobile animal rescue that is active around the clock to help animals in need, including both large and small animals as well as utilities and wild animals. Since 2000 there has been its own tierotruf, which is available for seven days a week and 24 hours to be able to react quickly to emergencies.

In recent years, Terra Mater has carried out numerous missions in cooperation with various authorities, including the rescue of injured birds of prey and exposed pets. The work aims at the protection and restoration of the well -being of the animals, which often suffer from negligible attitude or abuse. The initiative thus sets an important sign in animal rights protection and animal care in the region and beyond.

Due to the commitment of the fire brigade and animal welfare organizations, it becomes clear that animal welfare is very important in our society and must be acted quickly if animals are in danger.
