Progress in hostage dispute: Hamas announces release!

Tensions between Israel and Hamas appear to be easing, at least temporarily. After mediation talks in Egypt, the radical Islamic terrorist organization announced that it was now ready to release several Israeli hostages on Saturday. This decision follows significant pressure exerted by Israel on Hamas to secure the release. The talks involving Qatar and Egypt appeared to be fruitful, Hamas said in a statement. They stressed that they are committed to implementing the ceasefire and taking agreed steps to address the growing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, reported Krone.at.

As part of this agreement, Israel should also increase the number of aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip. Critics of Israel's measures accuse Israel of blocking the flow of housing containers, tents and cleared construction equipment, but the Israeli authority COGAT rejected these allegations and said that around 15,000 trucks of humanitarian aid had actually been transported to the Gaza Strip. These developments come at a critical time for the region, as 76 hostages are currently still held by Hamas, 36 of whom, according to Israeli sources, have already died t-online.de reported.
