Fire brigade celebration: Duelle at the Firecup 2025 in Sillian!

On May 1, 2025, the pairings for this year's Firecup were drawn at Heinfels' picturesque castle. This competition, which will begin in Sillian in East Tyrol on June 13, 2025, attracts fire departments from the entire Tyrolean region. The Firecup, which took place for the first time in 2015, is very popular in the fire brigade community and is held in knockout mode.

A total of 16 teams with nine members each compete against each other. Team Sillian 1 is the defending champion, while FF Huben in the Ötztal is considered the current Tyrolean record holder. Most teams come from the districts of Imst and Lienz. The draw of duel pairings was moderated by fire brigade spokesman Anton Wegscheider, and Julia Walder pulled the happy lots as a lucky fairy. The event was accompanied musically by the wind group of the Sillian music band.

The victory trophy that the winners of the competition was preserved was designed by the East Tyrolean artist Ilona Rainer-Prante. Photographer Toni Ausslechner was on site and created a slideshow of the event to visually capture the importance of the Firecup.

The history of the Tyrolean fire brigades is researched and documented by the fire brigade history in the State Fire Brigade Association. This is characterized by the support of local fire brigades in questions about fire brigade history and ensures equipment and vehicles that represent the technical development of the fire service.

As part of these efforts, the recording of documented documents and the commemorative writings that document the development of each fire brigade have been promoted since 2013. In this context, the State Fire Brigade Association works closely with the Austrian Federal Fire Brigade Association and the CTIF to make historical data and information accessible.

The Firecup not only combines sporting competitions, but also the awareness of the history and development of the fire brigade culture in Tyrol, which is cultivated and passed on. The Firecup 2025 promises to become another exciting experience for everyone involved and the audience.
