Drama at the Gmunden airfield: Small plane falls in field - inmates intact!
On Wednesday afternoon, a spectacular accident occurred at the Gmunden-Gschwandt airfield: a small plane plunged into an adjacent field during a practice flight over an embankment. The two inmates, a 65-year-old flight instructor and a 39-year-old student, did starting and landing training when there was a dangerous maneuver during a landing. Suddenly the tires blocked on the wet asphalt when braking, which dramatically tightened, such as Volksblatt reported.
The flight instructor quickly acted and steered the plane to the left to avoid a crash over the edge of the terrain at the end of the runway. Thanks to its courageous intervention, the two-seater aircraft rolled out on the soft ground and fell over the embankment without anyone being injured. The amount of the damage has so far been unknown. The flight accident commission has already been switched on to investigate the incidental circumstances of the incident, while the fire brigades Laakirchen and Rahstorf were used for the recovery of the machine over three hours, reported Nachrichten .
