Bast extended: Available in every Burgenland town from Sunday!

From this Sunday the Burgenland call collection taxi, for short, will work throughout Burgenland. This initiative, which originally started as a micro open system for the structurally weak south, is now also made available in the northern part of the state. This enables the 171 municipalities in Burgenland even easier and more flexible in the future.

From December 1st, a total of 822 new stops will be available to the citizens, especially in the districts of Neusiedl am See and Eisenstadt-Umgebung. This should improve the accessibility of train and bus stops for people without their own car and further strengthen public transport. The Burgenland transport companies rely on the simple and spontaneous booking of taxi rides.

How does the bast work?

The bast is available around the clock and trips can be booked via the hotline 0800 500 805 . However, the booking should be made at least 60 minutes before the desired departure date. For those who want to plan in advance, trips can also be reserved up to 30 days in advance. The routes for journeys must be between two and 30 kilometers long.

The operating times are from Monday to Sunday from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. During commuting times, i.e. daily from 4:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the bast is used as a feeder to the main traffic axes, especially for larger train stations. Outside of these times, trips between any bast stops are also possible.

As far as the costs are concerned, the bast is based on the prices of the pre-zon tariff. So passengers pay as much as for the same route by bus. In addition, all time and monthly tickets of the VOR are accepted, as well as the climate. This means that the ticket purchase is also possible directly in the taxi.

In a press conference in Rust, the state councilor Heinrich Dorner and Wolfgang Werderits, Managing Director of the Burgenland transport companies, explained the details of the expansion. Werderits emphasized that it was their intention to significantly improve the offer and accessibility of public transport for the population. Personal contact and the continuous accessibility via the hotline are of the greatest importance for you.

Dorner described the expansion of the collective taxis as a significant progress for public transport and sees Burgenland in this regard as a model for all of Austria. Particularly noteworthy is also the benefits for tourism in the state north, since the new micro openly have been used free of charge with the Burgenland Card since last June.

Overall, the introduction of the bast shows a clear direction towards a more accessible and user -friendly public transport network in Burgenland. A more comprehensive analysis and further information are in an article on Kurier.at find.
