New FH Campus in Pinkafeld: Change for Education and Health in Burgenland

Available at the Pinkafeld location is an impressive construction site that is supposed to create more space for education and research. One year after the construction started in November 2023, extensive expansion work for the FH Campus of the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences is being built here. Those responsible have described the dimensions of the shell construction as outstanding because it expands the area by more than two soccer fields.

With a total of nine new construction bodies, the campus is enriched by 14,675 square meters of additional usable space such as learning rooms, laboratories, lecture halls and even a public library. Governor Hans Peter Doskozil explains that this expansion is not only a significant improvement in the university infrastructure, but also gives a decisive impulse for health care in South Burgenland.

project and future prospects

The construction is headed by the Landeskimmobilien Burgenland GmbH and is to be completed by the end of the second half of 2026. The latest premises will serve not only the university of applied sciences, but also the kitchen Burgenland and the health of Burgenland. It is planned to integrate new courses that are tailored to the demand in the medical and technical area, including radiology technology and biomedical analysis.

A remarkable aspect of this project is the proximity to the recently built health of Burgenland-Klinik and the health and nursing school in Oberwart. Doskozil emphasizes that this geographical constellation offers an ideal breeding ground for founding a private medicine university in Burgenland. A feasibility study is currently being worked on to check the feasibility of this future -oriented project.

The expansion of the campus in Pinkafeld is therefore not only regarded as a significant event for university education, but also as a long -term strategy to strengthen the public health sector in Burgenland.

In addition, this construction activity promotes the creation of highly qualified jobs, which benefits both economic and social development in the region. The ongoing investment in education and health also sets a sign of the importance of a robust infrastructure in these areas.
