Burgenland on the road to success: top position for purchasing power and childcare!

The Burgenland leads the top with purchasing power and income, while Styria lags behind in some areas. A recently published study by the OGM Institute revealed the economic development of the two neighboring federal states and emphasized the successes of the Burgenland. Governor Hans Peter Doskozil emphasized the positive results that are due to clear focus on social responsibility and economic development.

The study emphasizes that the income in Burgenland has increased above average in recent decades and that the cost of living is low compared to other regions. This means that the Burgenlanders can consume an average of 5.2 percent more and services than the Austrian average citizen. The Burgenland is therefore in second place in the federal state ranking, while Styria takes sixth place.

Doskozil is particularly proud of childcare in Burgenland, which is considered exemplary. The comprehensive availability of free kindergarten helps families financially and facilitates the compatibility of work and family. Compared to Styria, it can also be seen that the quota of the under 3 years is highest in care in Burgenland.

The study also illustrates that Burgenlanders have higher incomes on average than their Styrian counterparts. This is partially attributed to childcare. Styria also has the highest proportion of compensatory allowances among the pensioners, while the Burgenland shines here with a lower rate.

Overall, the OGM study shows that Burgenland has achieved sustainable economic success through targeted measures and investments and continues to continue to continue this positive development.
