celebration and commitment
The Pride Village offered a variety of activities, information stands, live performances and exhibitions. Community organizations were able to address important topics and offer a combination of education, activism and entertainment. These events illustrate how important it is to promote the visibility of the LGBTQIA+ movement and continue the joint fight against discrimination.
The roots of this movement go back to the early 20th century. The foundation of the "Mattachine Society" 1950 and the "Daughters of Bilitis" in 1955 in the USA were decisive steps to support the rights of homosexuals and lesbians. A turning point in the history of the movement was the Stonewall rebellion 1969, which laid the foundation for a strong and influential activist scene. This relationship with historical moments is explained in detail on prideplanet.de in detail.
Current challenges and progress
Despite significant progress, such as the legalization of marriage for same -sex couples in many countries, the path to complete equality of the LGBTQIA+ persons does not have been completed for a long time. Many organizations continue to work to counter discrimination and violence, especially transgender people. From a global point of view, there are enormous differences in social acceptance and legal framework, which further fuel the ongoing struggle of this community for equality and justice.
