Bayernwerk and Maxsolar start revolutionary memory project in Cham!

On July 17, 2025, Bayernwerk Netz GmbH and Maxsolar GmbH gave the starting signal for the first network -useful memory at a distribution network operator in Germany. At the signing of the contract in Munich, pioneering cooperation was sealed. Maxsolar will build a powerful large battery with a capacity of 25 megawatt hours and an output of 5 megawatts. The prototype arises in Wutzldorf, Cham district, and is intended to help reduce network bottlenecks.

Bayernwerk Netz, which belongs to the E.ON group, has awarded the contract for the service contract according to a tender procedure in which over 100 bidders took part in Maxsolar. This initiative is part of the comprehensive strategy to reduce the network construction requirement and to integrate additional generation systems into the power grid more efficiently. Bayernwerk is also planning to make further tenders for additional locations of network -related storage in the near future.

transition to renewable energies

In Bavaria, 75% of electrical energy already comes from renewable sources. This significant number is in accordance with the national trend, the aim of which is to generate over 90% of the future current from wind energy and photovoltaic systems. According to the Federal Ministry of Economics , the energy market is influenced by increasingly fluctuating production, which makes the integration of savings more than necessary. The new large battery from Maxsolar plays a central role in this context.

Storage technology is often described as a "safe" and "Swiss pocket knife" of the energy transition. It not only enables the storage of excess energy, but also requires flexibility in dealing with energy requirements and generation, especially during times of higher solar generation when solar power is fed into the network.

marketability and future developments

The high participation in the tender for the network -related memory underlines the marketability of this service. Maxsolar was founded in 2009 and specializes in cross -sector energy concepts. The company currently employs around 360 people with an impressive project pipeline of 7.6 gigawatt.

In the future, a strongly increasing need for saving will be expected. For Germany, the current network development plan forecasts a need of around 67 gigawatts for small storage and up to 54 gigawatts for large batteries by 2037. Such measures are crucial in order to make the increasing use of renewable energies sustainable and cost -effective. The transfer of existing gas stores could cover part of the hydrogen storage requirement and thus represent a further step towards the energy transition.

Bayernwerk Netz already supplies around seven million people in Bavaria with energy and operates a comprehensive electricity and gas network and a road lighting network. The initiatives for the integration of renewable energies and the implementation of storage are essential elements on the way to a flexible and sustainable energy system in Germany.
