Barbara Kutlich says goodbye: the end of a talk era on ORF!
After more than 25 years in the ORF afternoon program, Barbara Kartlich says goodbye to her talk show "Barbara Karlich-Talk at 4". The ORF has confirmed that the program will be discontinued and the last new episodes are to be shot at the end of June 2025. The broadcast of the pre -produced consequences has been announced by the end of 2026. ORF program director Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz emphasized that the program has already received termination of the program, which seals the format's closure.
"Barbara Kutlich - Talk at 4" holds the record for the longest term in German -speaking countries after celebrating its premiere in October 1999. A total of over 4,500 episodes were produced, but most recently without a studio audience. Despite the upcoming attitude, Karlich never thought of ending her career and underlined that her mission was shaped by respect and is not degenerated into a "mud catch".
The end of an era
The decision to set the talc format also comes in the context of predetermined savings on ORF of a total of three million euros per year. ORF did not officially comment on these austerity measures, but the falling odds in recent years have led to reviewing the broadcast offer. The topics of the show included a wide range, including love, job, wishes, dreams, health, family, trans sex and homosexuality. Barbara Kutlich also noted that political issues were rarely treated in the program.
After the end of "Barbara Kutlich - Talk at 4", the moderator is preserved to ORF. Future formats with Correspondence are already being planned, including a 45-minute format in the second main evening program in 2026. This new program design is viewed by ORF as part of the way to a new era on television.
For the audience, this means the end of an institution on afternoon television, which has entertain and informed many people over two decades. It remains to be seen how Barbara Kutlich will get involved in the ORF.
