A private American security company will be opening an important checkpoint on the way in the coming days northern Gaza take over. This is according to a source who briefed CNN as Israeli forces withdraw from the region on Saturday.

Armed employees of an American security company will man the checkpoint and be responsible for inspecting vehicles entering northern Gaza. Palestinians returning to northern Gaza on foot will not be checked under the terms of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Israeli forces will complete their withdrawal from the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza on Saturday, allowing displaced residents of northern Gaza to return to their homes - or what remains of them.

According to Israeli media reports, a security company called UG Solutions will provide personnel at the checkpoint. Another American company, Safe Reach Solutions, is said to be involved in planning and logistics for the checkpoint.
