Ukrainian ski team sudden escape before the tour de ski!
In a dramatic incident during the 19th edition of the Tour de Ski in Toblach, Italy, the Ukrainian cross-country team was suddenly disappeared. Before the decisive competition, the lack of the athletes Viktoriya Olekh, Anastasiia Nikon, Sofiia Shkatula, Andriy Dotsenko and Denys Muhotinov caused great guessing rates. FIS race director Michael Lamplot said at a loss: "You just never appeared at the start. Sometimes forgot to notify us of notifying us. href = "https://www.sueddeutsche.de/sport/tour-de-ski-wide-team-ukraine-verwunden-raetsel-li.3176282" Target = "_ blank"> sueddeutsche.de documented.
The FIS has now given an explanation for the sudden disappearance. As reported, the Ukrainian team had stated at the Ski World Association that "financial difficulties" were the reason for their early departure. It was already intended in advance that the athletes would leave the Tour de Ski at that time. Confusion arose because the team did not inform the association or the media about this decision, but according to the regulations, this is not absolutely necessary, such as oe24.at reported.
misunderstandings and reactions
Nobody at the venue initially had information about the disappearance of the team, and the whole incident was particularly explosive in war -plagued times. The Ukrainian team did not respond to the questions of the media until Friday afternoon, which also made the situation mysterious. At the time of their withdrawal, the Ukrainian athletes had already achieved considerable residues in the stages, which made their decision seem all the more surprising. While the Norwegian Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo and Norwegian Astrid Öyre Slind were leading, the discussion about the return of the Ukrainian team and their challenges on the Tour de Ski remained.
