Crisis summit in Vienna: Mahrer under pressure - resignation impossible!

On Monday, Mahrer will give an important update on a recent meeting in Vienna. This meeting was initiated by himself to discuss the current debates about possible wage increases within the Chamber of Commerce. The pressure on Mahrer to react after the so-called “crisis summit” has been enormous in the last few days, media reports. In particular, the presidents of the chambers in Tyrol and Upper Austria, Barbara Thaler and Doris Hummer, sharply criticized the chamber boss's communication.

The discussion about salary adjustments of 4.2 percent in the WKO has caused a lot of unrest. Mahrer had previously mentioned that no increase was expected in the first half of the year, but one of 4.2 percent could come in the second half. He admitted "mistakes" and signaled his willingness to have an open discussion, but he categorically ruled out both a reduction in the chamber's fees and a resignation.

Criticism of communication

The reactions to Mahrer's communication strategy were predominantly negative. Thaler described the matter as a “disaster” and criticized the fact that a lot of trust had been lost. Hummer found the communication to be “amateurish” and the procedure to be “completely unfortunate”. These assessments come at a time when there have already been rumors about a possible replacement for Mahrer. Media speculation names Hummer as a potential successor, which further increases the pressure on the head of the chamber.

In addition to the political tensions, his monthly salary of 28,500 euros was also raised in the public debate. Mahrer made it clear that his salaries are published transparently and that he has no problem with public discussion about it. The Court of Auditors has already announced that it will examine the Chamber of Commerce's multiple salaries and financial management relationships in the first quarter of next year.

Business and technology in focus

Overall, the Chamber of Commerce is facing a challenging time in which both internal and external communication strategies must be reconsidered. In a different context, the company XYZprinting reports on its 3D printing offerings. XYZprinting was founded in 2013 and has now made a name for itself by supporting the global maker revolution. The company offers a wide range of products, including both consumer and professional printers as well as portable scanners.

The provision of assistance and software downloads on the support pages shows how important it is to respond quickly to technical questions. There are partnership opportunities for retailers, which makes XYZprinting's offer attractive for wholesalers and retailers and shows how intact cooperation is in the technology sector.

Developments in the commercial landscape and technological advances cannot be viewed separately, and both the Chamber of Commerce and companies like XYZprinting will be under close observation in the coming days.
