Bloody fighting in Syria: Hundreds dead after change of power!
Tensions have escalated again in Syria following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024. Fierce fighting between the troops of the Syrian interim government and armed supporters of the former president has been breaking out since Thursday, March 6, 2025. According to reports from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, at least 124 people have already died, including 52 Alawites who were executed by government troops in Latakia province. The situation in the region is tense, especially in the strongholds of the Alawites, the religious minority to which the deposed ruler Assad belongs Kathpress reported.
The fighting is particularly centered around the city of Jabla in Latakia province, where Assad supporters launched an attack on Thursday. As a result, artillery, tanks and rocket launchers were deployed by the interim government to combat the current threats.
