At least eight people died in a hot air balloon accident in the southern Brazilian region of Santa Catarina on Saturday, the local governor reported.
Accident in Praia Grande
"We are all shocked by the balloon accident in Praia Grande on Saturday morning. Our rescue team is already on the scene... So far we have confirmed eight fatalities and two survivors," local governor Jorginho Mello said on Platform X.
Search operations underway
The governor stated that rescue workers are searching for more people as initial information suggests there were 22 people on board.
