Wojnar's is calling for hummus because of the risk of salmonella - act now!

Österreich - The Viennese spread and delicatessen company Wojnar’s initiated a comprehensive recall campaign for its hummus products on April 15, 2025. The reason for this is evidence of salmonella in the raw material tahin, which is processed in several varieties. Various hummus variants that were sold in various Austrian retail chains are affected, including branches from Kröswang, Wedl, Kastner, Transgourmet, Eurogast, NÖM Gast and Julius Kiennast. The recall campaign not only affects Wojnar’s products, but also includes additional items that are offered in supermarkets such as Spar and Billa. Customers can get the purchase price back even without submitting a purchase receipt.

The recall came into force on Monday and will expand on Tuesday, April 16, 2025. This measure was necessary because Salmonella hits serious health risks, which can often be associated with symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting and a slight fever. A doctor should definitely be consulted for severe symptoms.
