KPÖ wants to introduce folk kitchens in Vienna against high food prices

Wien, Österreich - The Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) has decided to actively act against the rising food prices in Vienna. At a press conference on the upcoming Vienna election, the Federal Spokesman Tobias Schweiger expressed the demand for the establishment of folk kitchens. The aim is to offer the citizens in Vienna inexpensive, freshly cooked dishes from regional products. These folk kitchens are to be set up in the city's busy places so that the offers are accessible to all people. The top candidate Barbara Urbanic supports the Initiative and calls for government interventions, including a price lid on staple. Urbanic emphasizes that the cheapest foods have increased by ten percent since the previous year.

In order to draw attention to the problem, the KPÖ organized an action with a pizza truck on Karlsplatz. Further stations in the districts of Meidling and Ottakring are already planned. The number of folk kitchens is to be developed in the upcoming legislative period to ensure a nationwide supply.

monuments and places of memory

Links is committed to memory work that reflects progressive, feminist and democratic values. Sheri Avraham from left sees the Lueger monument as a remnant from the time of the Nazi ideology in Austria. Although left has no concrete proposals for the design of the square, think about a larger statue of Johanna Dohnal to honor their political contribution.
