SchUM Cultural Days: A festival for the senses in Speyer!
The SchUM Culture Days 2024 in Speyer promise an exciting cultural festival! From October 26th to November 24th, visitors will experience a diverse range of concerts, readings, exhibitions and lectures that present the radiant Jewish culture in all its facets. Stefanie Seiler, the chairwoman of SchUM e.V. and mayor of Speyer, emphasizes how special these days are for the city because they offer a platform to celebrate a rich cultural history that extends to the present day.
The starting signal for these impressive cultural days will be a magnificent concert on October 27th in the Beith Shalom synagogue. The Berlin cantor Gabriel Loewenheim and the Israeli pianist Adi Bar Soria take visitors into a world of festive sounds. But that's just the beginning! Klezmer lovers can look forward to a rousing concert by Max Eisinger on October 31st, while none other than Noam Bar will provide a furious finale on November 21st with their unique mix of hip-hop, R'n'B and jazz.
Varied program
But it's not just music on the program! On November 7th, Miguel Wolf will examine the question of how Jewish influences shape Argentine tango. The role of gender issues in Judaism will also be examined by Rabbi Jasmin Andriani on October 27th. Mirna Funk will also bring her extraordinary perspective on current issues in the Jewish world to her reading on November 15th. Anyone who wants to learn more about Jewish history can look forward to an exciting exhibition that can be seen throughout the ShUM Cultural Days: “Next year in…” Doesn’t the infamous Jewish robber captain Abraham Picard even meet the legendary Schinderhannes?
Guided tours with Sabrina Albers round off the impressive offering. Advance ticket sales start in mid-September – a must for culture enthusiasts!
