Fight against clan crime: Ghadban warns of cultural blindness!
Criminal clans have been a growing threat in Germany for decades! Ralph Ghadban, an expert who has studied clan crime for over 40 years, warns of a dangerous blindness to cultural problems. Ghadban, originally from Lebanon and who has worked as a social worker, researcher and consultant, expresses concern about developments in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, where he was invited to a hearing on clan crime. While he addressed important cultural aspects, police measures were in the foreground, which pushed his theses into the background.
“I fear that everything we have achieved is now in danger of being destroyed,” explains Ghadban. He criticizes the tendency in research to water down the concept of clan crime, which endangers the discussion about the cultural roots of this crime. In other European countries the term clan is used without question, while in Germany there is a discussion about whether it leads to stigmatization. Ghadban emphasizes that the clan members, regardless of their own criminality, cover up for their criminal relatives and distance themselves from the state.
The culture of the clans
“This culture doesn’t suit us,” warns Ghadban, criticizing the return to blindness that caused the problem in the first place. He sees a dangerous arrogance in the belief that immigrants will adapt to Western values. Instead, clans have found their role as protective communities for criminals. Ghadban calls for a fundamental change in how these structures are handled in order to break clan solidarity. This includes combating forced marriages and creating dropout programs for women in clans.
In order to effectively combat clan crime, Ghadban is convinced that the migration system must also be reformed. “If we don’t control who comes to Germany, the clans’ supplies will be secured,” he warns urgently. Time is of the essence, because the challenges posed by clan crime are growing and require decisive action!
