A seemingly harmless electric moped caused a stir in Sponsheim! On November 15th, 2024, around 3:50 p.m., a Bingen law enforcement patrol stopped a 32-year-old who was not only wearing a cross bicycle helmet, but was also ignoring the operating instructions of a serious lawbreaker. The insurance license plate was attached to the tire and fender with a violation - just unbelievable!

Alcohol and drugs – the dangerous mix

During the inspection on Gustav-Stresemannstrasse it quickly became clear: This driver not only does not have a valid driver's license, but is also using a false license plate for his moped! But that wasn't all. The police found him to be slightly under the influence of alcohol at 0.25 per mille. However, even more shocking was the drug test, which revealed several banned substances such as cannabis, amfetamine and MDMA! Continuing travel was immediately stopped and the driver had to take a blood test at the police station.

Now things are getting serious: The man has to answer for driving without a license, forging documents and several violations of the law. He is also facing additional administrative offenses because of his questionable participation in traffic under the influence of alcohol and drugs, the dangerous use of a motorcycle with a bicycle helmet and the unauthorized modifications to the license plate. A poignant case that shows how dangerous the combination of recklessness and drugs can be in traffic!
