From cyclists to truck drivers, the testing covered it all! The police discovered serious violations, including inadequate load securing, dangerous cell phone usage behavior and some - even - driving without a valid driver's license! A total of eight criminal charges and 44 administrative offenses were pending. There were also 63 warnings, which represent a shocking picture of road safety.
Prohibited weapons and drug problems
A particularly explosive event took place on the L770 when a dangerous goods truck was checked. Here the officers discovered two forbidden one-hand knives on the 33-year-old driver from Wallenhorst - a clear violation of the weapons law. But that's not all! A 17-year-old Vespa driver from Espelkamp also attracted negative attention. He was targeted with a technically manipulated scooter that was also not insured. Neither he nor his father, who was the owner of the vehicle, can hide from the criminal charges that will soon arrive. The journey was over for him immediately!
The encounter with another road user, a 35-year-old EKF driver, also confused the situation. His unusual behavior suggested drug use. Although he refused to take a preliminary test, he admitted that he had consumed narcotics before driving. A doctor then took a blood sample - further clear evidence of the inadequate traffic safety on the streets of Espelkamp. The police remain vigilant and tireless in their fight against traffic violations!
