Shawn Mendes rocks the Frequency Festival: heat wave and comeback!

The FM4 Frequency Festival in St. Pölten opened its doors again on August 15, 2025 and visitors could expect a day full of musical highlights. Numerous artists performed in midsummer temperatures of up to 35 degrees Celsius, including Shawn Mendes, Central Cee, Scooter and Felix Jaehn.

Shawn Mendes opened the evening with his hits “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” and “Treat You Better,” which immediately captivated the audience. Vienna.at reports that Mendes, who began playing guitar in 2012 and rose to fame on platforms like Vine, has now established himself as one of the most sought-after pop artists. His career began when he signed with Island Records in 2014 and quickly achieved great success.

Felix Jaehn's comeback

Another highlight of the festival was the comeback of Felix Jaehn, who returned after a year-long break from the stage and came out as nonbinary. Jaehn performed on the Green Stage alongside 20 drag queens and kings and presented an energetic show. His new song "Bang Bang! Baby, Show Them" will have its world premiere on August 22nd and focuses on self-confidence and perseverance. Jaehn originally planned five shows for 2025, but subsequently received a request for the Frequency Festival.

Ella Stern also performed on the Red Bull Stage, marking her first festival appearance. Her music, with titles like “Empress of Vienna” and “Unfortunately Not”, particularly appeals to the younger generation.

Graduation with big names

Central Cee and Scooter put on a rousing show at the end of the evening on the Space Stage. Scooter played classics like “How Much Is the Fish,” which got the audience celebrating. Big names like Aurora, Bonez MC, Bibiza, Will Smith and Kygo have already been announced for the last day of the festival, which further increases the anticipation for the event.

The FM4 Frequency Festival proves once again that it is one of the most important venues for music lovers and although the heat is challenging, the artists and the audience are well prepared to create unforgettable moments together. The weather forecast continues to predict very hot days, which makes the festival atmosphere even livelier.
