Michael Rendi: New ambassador in Rome with a personal connection to Italy
Michael Rendi was introduced today as the new Austrian ambassador to Italy. Italian President Sergio Mattarella received Rendi's credentials in Rome. This announcement was made by the Foreign Ministry in Rome and marks a significant change in Austria's diplomatic representation in Italy.
Rendi, who is 61 years old and has a special relationship with Italy, having spent the first four years of his life in Trieste, succeeds Martin Eichtinger. Eichtinger, who was appointed ambassador to Italy just a year ago, will take over the management of the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna from August 1st.
